I am an Associate Professor at the University of Leicester, where I teach law and religion, jurisprudence, and arbitration. I have published extensively on matters of public international law, questions of law and religion and the relationship between law and literature; my full cv and publication list can be found in my Linktree (apologies for the two-step process, but when I had a direct link to the CV here I always forgot to update it every time I uploaded a new file to my Drive). With utmost enthusiasm, I offer my services as a supervisor to PhD students who require expertise in these subjects, as long as we can get along.
I obtained degrees from the universities of Cagliari (JD), Nottingham (LLM, PhD) and Leicester (PGCHE). I am also a qualified attorney in Italy, I occasionally advise clients and law firms on matters of international investment law, international arbitration and public international law, and should you wish to avail yourself of my services, I stand ready to arbitrate your dispute with a sense of impartiality and fairness.
A spinal cavernoma rendered me paraplegic in November of 2015, and I am now always accompanied by my trusty set of wheels, acutely aware of the privilege I once enjoyed in the first 33 years of my life. Though I am not one to readily adopt the label of an activist, I cannot deny my desire to remind all those who will listen (as well as those who will not) that disabled individuals are often deprived of the same opportunities afforded to their able-bodied counterparts - a matter of profound injustice. As a mentor to disabled youth who harbour ambitions beyond the Paralympic Games, I take great pleasure in imparting my wisdom upon them, while my ire is often raised upon witnessing a so-called able-bodied individual parking their vehicle in a disabled spot without due justification.
Beyond my professional and social pursuits, I am a devoted husband, a once-terrible basketball player now retired (but still an ardent observer of perhaps too many sports leagues and competitions), a proficient bassist and composer, a lacklustre amateur photographer, an avid bibliophile, and I am able to request a beer in no fewer than eight languages, including Latin (although my apparent proficiency in languages does not actually extend far beyond the confines of Italian, English and Spanish).
